The Song of the Winds

My pores drank in the winds hungrily.
The taste was magnificent.
They're the taste of freedom,
Light and sweet.
They flowed through me,
Allowing my whole body to taste them.

I moved with the winds,
My body became part of them,
Part of the ebb and flow of the current.
I was part of the chain.
I felt the salty ocean move through me,
But remained completely dry.
I let my body go,
And lost control.

I watched as the ethereal winds lift me from my position.
The gave me flight,
Allowing me to become weightless and free.
They brought me over the water,
And my nose twitched as it caught the light scent of splashing
From my dangling toes brushing the oceans surface.

I listened as the winds gave me life.
They were melodic and innocent.
I had become the winds translator for all to hear.
I gave their song life just as they had given me.
Through me,
The wind was able to state its pleas.
Passerby's watched my limp body move,
And they felt the plight of the winds as well.
Their tears fell upon the water,
And the ripples added to the wonderful sound.

When the song had ended,
The wind brought me back to the earth.
They told me,
That their part in this world was ending.
I was left heartbroken
And plead for them not to go...
They comforted me.
They assured me that although their lives were short,
They were well lived.
The had no regrets.

They asked me one more thing before passing on.
They asked me to spread their song,
To keep them living on through me.
I didn't understand at the time,
But something inside me knew I'd understand when I needed.
So I just nodded and watched helplessly,
While in the distance,
The winds sweetly drifted away.
